If you're chosen, there's a reason!

Note to readers (my lovely Baggees): For the avoidance of any doubt - every character in this blog is me!!! No Baggy was harmed in its writing.

Baggy's daily state!
Depression (Black = really bad/Grey = not great/Blue = okay/Yellow = sunny day): Grey.
Anxiety (From 1 = barely any to 10 = gibbering wreck standard): 9.
Tears: Lots.
Pancakes (Yes/No): Of course - but instead of a main meal!

Weight in her terrifying naked state (Stones and pounds): 13st 12lbs.
Overall week: Bit of a nightmare.

Clever Bird has decided that Friday will be Creative Clara's blog day. Well that's the current plan anyway. Stuff changes. Baggy is doing her best to stay positive, but frankly life is a bit of a 'mare at the moment. There is good in there too though, so Clara is focussing on that - or perhaps more accurately, spinning it like that!

Because Baggy doesn't actually earn anything much, just a bit from her Etsy shop Realuv and her tiny pension, when stuff goes pear-shaped, it all gets a little stressful. And boy has it gone pear-shaped this month! Now don't misunderstand Baggees, not for one second does Furry Mama regret rescuing the pooch - he is the sweetest, kindest, cleverest, most well-behaved (no really he is!), dog you are likely to meet. And he's come on leaps and bounds in the few months he's lived with Baggy and Calum. He's no longer terrified of the world (although he still has his moments) and is becoming a model pooch. But it is now clear that the true reason that he was given up is that he is really not a terribly healthy lad. His allergies are extreme to say the least. He has now had further blood tests and they've identified specific plant pollens he's allergic to: specific grasses, specific trees including maples, nettles and loads of other stuff. All of which are in the garden! Gloria Gardener is going to be busy removing things.

Because it's so serious, Pepper needs to have help in the form of a specially formulated serum, for his allergies. Normally this would be injected once a month, but as he is so scared he has to be sedated, so that would be cruel. So instead he will have vials of it that somehow Furry Mama has to put a drop of under his tongue, twice a day! Hmmmm! It's not even licenced in this country, so will be made for Pepper in the States and imported for him under special license!!! Does that sound ridiculously expensive Baggees? Well yes it is!!

He is now going quite lame too. Hopefully it's just the nasty toxins coming out and hurting his paws, but it could be more serious. But Calum and Furry Mama will do everything in their power to keep Pepper healthy and comfortable. Clever Bird mucked up again though, leaving it until the last minute to order him some more of his feather-food. It shouldn't have been an issue. It wasn't last time. It should have arrived today. It didn't. In fact it won't arrive until Monday and Furry Mama has none left. It is so specialised that she couldn't get any for delivery tomorrow off t'internet either. So The Domestic Goddess has checked the list and is making the pooch, crab and potato cakes with peas for his supper!

His allergies are so bad that he's even allergic to the fungus that can grow invisibly on his food!! Furry Mama has to keep it well sealed and wipe his mouth after he's eaten. And the mites that can be in house dust. Sigh!! No wonder he didn't scratch as much at Baggy's sister's house - it's immaculate as she's a proper Goddess. She also has wooden floors not old dust-eating carpets. She also doesn't have black mould growing upstairs because of the damp, or all the plants he's allergic to in her garden. The Domestic Goddess is also going to be rather busy - she foresees carpet lifting! Archaeologist Annie knows that there are seventeenth-century oak floorboards upstairs under the carpets, so it could be lovely. She'll also be trying to kill the mould and re-painting bedrooms.

Calum does have a point though, as he said, "If we ever get another animal I'm choosing it".
"But I didn't choose them, they chose me".
"Yes quite!"
"What?"
"Really?"
"Okay, well yes, Wesley does have more issues than Grotty Groom can count, including really bad allergies. Minty Mutt did have arthritis and dementia. Bracket cat was so thin she nearly didn't make it and Hinge has well, Hinge problems. Joey's good though!"
"My point exactly, I chose him.
"Well, you chose me too, so you don't always get it right!"

However, no matter what Cal thinks, Furry Mama knows that the furries all picked her for a reason and it's a very obvious one - in helping them, they more than help her! Unfortunately, they also cost small fortunes that she simply does not have. So Hormonal Hannah's had a bit of a meltdown with lots of tears and a fair few quiet prayers. The good bit - in the last two days there have been three more bookings for the holiday cottage! One for Sunday, when the current guests leave. Thank you at least that's the latest blood tests paid for.

Creative Clara has also been working at earning some furry-money. She has been beavering away at the novel that she started to write a couple of years ago. She can't say it's been easy, but she is enjoying the challenge. And a challenge it is. Keeping Hormonal Hannah occupied and Clever Bird using her brain, makes it worth it though, even if no one except Baggy ever reads it..................
