Baggy's daily state!
Depression (Black = really bad/Grey = not great/Blue = okay/Yellow = sunny day): Yellow.
Anxiety (From 1 = barely any to 10 = gibbering wreck standard): 4.
Tears: No.
Overall day: Brill.
Furry Mama was at the rescue centre at 11.00am on the dot, but so were about six other people! The dog warden dropping another dog off. Two people wanting to meet dogs. The greyhound re-homing lady. A man who'd come to pick up his new dog, except he was meant to be there at 2.00pm. And a lady dropping off her dog for boarding while she's on holiday and delivering a ton of food. Two volunteer dog walkers also arrived in the middle of all this. Clever Bird began to appreciate why things went a bit wrong on Wednesday when she couldn't take Pepper home. Especially as they are full (probably over forty dogs there - plus fourteen unexpected new born puppies from two strays!) Furry Mama was very disappointed, but understands that they are doing an amazing job in difficult circumstances. In spite of all this Pepper and Furry Mama were on their way home by noon. Pepper settled into Billy Bob Jalopy like a pro. and after looking out of the windows for a while, settled on the back shelf and fell fast asleep. When they got home, Baggy's sister had arrived, so as the two cats had taken one look at her and vanished, it was safe to take Pepper in.
What a day for the lad though.
- Journey home in a new vehicle.
- Meeting Baggy's sister.
- A walk around his new patch behind the house - round the old quarry pits.
- A look around Gloria Gardener's new garden on the lead - that he's never been shown how to walk on.
- An introduction to the house - which included totally losing the plot on the sofas and jumping up onto everything, even the cooker (even though he was on a lead).
- Travelling over to Bungay, a small but quite busy market town.
- Being a bit scared (tail between the legs) of some of the traffic, and banging noises and weird engine noises.
- Going into three shops while Baggy's sister shopped.
- Being driven back home again (snoozing in Billy Bob).
- Having some supper.
- Being let out on the patio on his own - in the hope that he would do a wee-wee, as he had not done one all day!!!!! He didn't.
- Waiting patiently while Baggy and Debby had a sandwich.
- Peeing about three pints of wee-wee all over the rug in the dining area! Waiting to see if he'd be in big trouble - he wasn't, The Domestic Goddess and Debby cleared it up while he was out on the patio. He wasn't sure about coming back in, but was reassured by Furry Mama that it was okay.
- Heading over to a village eight miles away to go to a beginner's dog training class.
- Spending an hour with two other owner's and their dogs being trained to: sit, wait, stay, lay down, stand, heal, off and come - yes all in the first lesson! Being a total superstar at it in spite of Furry Mama's best efforts to confuse the lad.
- Coming nose to nose with Hinge cat.
- Laying quietly while Baggy and Debby cooked and ate supper and polished off way too much wine (Hormonal Hannah stuck to her old meds yesterday for that very reason. New ones today, so no alcofroll tonight for Baggy).
- Being taken for a walk at 12.30am by torch light by two drunken women trying to persuade him to do a wee-wee. He didn't.
- Being put in a puppy crate at 1.30am.
- Barking his head off because he hated it, until Furry Mama came and slept on the floor beside it at 1.45am.
- Waking up to find Furry Mama had left at 2.15am and repeating the barking.
- Baggy grabbed her pillows and duvet and took Furry Mama back down to sleep on the floor. Hannah woke her at 3.00am, stiff and needing a wee. Baggy snook out with her duvet and went back to bed. At 3.20am the barking started again.
- Clever Bird decided to leave the cats on the duvet, she grabbed a sleeping bag and her pillows and went back down and lay by the crate. They both slept. Hannah wake Baggy again, with a major hangover headache. Clever Bird arranged the sleeping bag to look as though Furry Mama was in it. Pepper slept on. Baggy went and got pills. Pepper slept on. Baggy headed back to bed. Pepper slept on. Baggy fell asleep with both cats in the bed with her.
- Freda Fretter was woken by a weird vibrating sound. Clever Bird realised it was a phone alarm and that Baggy's phone was downstairs. No movement in the house. It stopped. A while later it started again. Baggy went downstairs. It wasn't her phone which was set for 8.30am, as it was 7.15am. Pepper slept on.
- Furry Mama decided that Baggy should get up and let Pepper out of his crate while he was settled and not barking. They had a lovely cuddle on the sleeping bag.
- Furry Mama let him out on the patio. He did a huge wee and a poo. Yay!
- Baggy took him in the shower room with her. He lay down while she had a shower. He went upstairs with Baggy while she dressed and he had a nose to nose encounter with Hinge. All good.
- Furry Mama fed him. He had already learnt from last night to sit and wait for his food! Without being asked he plopped his bottom on the same place as he had done last night while Furry Mama got his food ready!
- At 8.30am as Debby was still sparko in spite of her alarm going off three times, Furry Mama and Pepper went for a walk - met five dogs, one of whom went for him, but he didn't react!
- Since they got back at 9.00am, Creative Clara has been writing this blog while Pepper has slept by her feet. Only leaping on the sofas twice and being crated for a minute as a result.
- It's now 10.15. Debby has just emerged. Bless her she never sleeps in. They will shortly be walking to the village café for a fry-up.
