Baggy's daily state!
Depression (Black = really bad/Grey = not great/Blue = okay/Yellow = sunny day): Yellow.
Anxiety (From 1 = barely any to 10 = gibbering wreck standard): 4.
Tears: No.
Overall day: 🐎
For the first time in months and months Baggy got up and put Grotty Groom's jodphurs on. Well just about. A certain amount of lying down on the bed, breathing in and swearing was involved in order to actually do the zip up, but she managed it eventually. (Note: from Clever Bird to Hormonal Hannah - Baggy needs to resume her Fat Club healthy eating plan as a matter of urgency. Well some time after this weekend anyway). But Grotty was determined that one way or another she was going to see her Boys today. Calum wanted to see Joey as well, so once Furry Mama had given Minty Mutt a pootle out, they headed over to the yard. Both Boys were out in their paddocks, as they're still living out at the moment, so Grotty and Calum wandered out to get them - past the magnificent stallion that belongs to the land owner. Magnificent being the operative word, as he showed off all his paces and Cal and Grotty walked past. Both Boys whinnied and came over when they saw them and were quite happy to be brought in. Baggy realised that she couldn't actually breathe as she got past the stallion even though Grotty was desperately trying to ignore his antics, but Wesley didn't put a hoof wrong.
Grotty spent a very happy time grooming Wessles and re-plaiting his mane, while Wesley told her which bits to scratch, whilst munching his straw bed that was piled in the corner of his stable! As the Boys have had months off, just living out and being horses, Grotty wants to gently reintroduce them to some work. She planned on lunging both of them. They decided that Wesley could go first. Freda Fretter was not at all sure how Wesley would react, so she decided to kit Baggy out in full safety kit just to be on the safe side. Baggy has been on the receiving end of an exuberant Wessle's hoof and still has the dent in her arm to prove it. So hat, body protector and gloves on, she took Wesley to the outdoor school.
Well frankly she looked a right twit! Wesley could not have been more relaxed, happy and laid back if he'd tried! He just seemed happy to be doing something with his Mum. He did the perfect lunge session, in a slightly floppy, let's use as little effort as possible way, like a perfect school master. Grotty was as proud as punch of the Boy.
Wesley remembered what he was doing as though he'd done it yesterday. Pity Grotty didn't, but she got there eventually. It was just what Hormonal Hannah needed, a few hours with her beautiful horse.
Next it was Joey's turn. Neither Joey or Cal have much experience of lunging and it took a while, but they got there. Joey was just as happy and relaxed as Wesley had been. Both horses seemed to enjoy it. Calum and Grotty certainly did. Now they're enjoying pizza and sweeties. Hmmmmm...........
