A day off!!!!!

Note to readers (my lovely Baggees): For the avoidance of any doubt - every character in this blog is me!!! No Baggy was harmed in its writing.

Overall day:  😀

Today Minty Mutt turned eighty! Well ten, but in German Shepherd years that's eighty. So Furry Mama and Calum decided that he needed a nice day out. As it's a beautiful day, they also decided to take Billy Bob camper van out to the seaside. After the neighbours had provided help with a jump start, they headed off to Southwold, planning to walk across to Walberswick.

Quick stop for cappuccino and a bacon and egg sarnie.

Then a wander past the boats on the River Blythe.

It was actually quite a long walk. By the time they'd wandered around Walberswick, muscles were pinging. Not Minty Mutt's you understand Baggees, Furry Mama's and Cal's. They were the ones feeling eighty. So they decided to shorten the walk back by getting the ferry. This was a first for both Baggy and Cal, even though they grew up coming to Southwold, and certainly for Minty, who's never been on a boat before.

Getting off was interesting. Freda Fretter thought Mint was going to have a broken paw as he stuck it over the side of the boat as it swept towards the quay. Fortunately, Furry Mama whipped it out of the way at the last second. Finally back at Billy Bob it seemed like a good plan to have a salted-caramel ice cream.

Home via the scenic route, to get some extra charge into Billy Bob's battery, they dropped Mint off at home to sleep. Baggy changed into Grotty Groom's clothes and they headed off to see the Boys. After grooming all the mud off them, they tacked up and got ready to ride. Wesley has lost so much weight, that when Grotty checked his girth, Clever Bird realised that Baggy would end up on the deck unless Calum held her stirrup. She asked Cal, who manoeuvred himself and Joey to assist. Grotty hopped on and re-checked the girth. It was way too loose, but Baggy's fingers couldn't tighten it. "Please could you help Cal?" asked Grotty with one of Baggy's legs sticking up at a forty-five degree angle, so that he could get to the girth straps. Joey and Cal came over. Wesley decided to say "Hi" to his brother, in the usual horsey-manner of blowing up his nostrils. Joey squealed like a stallion and tried to take a chunk out of Wesley's nose! Wesley panicked and cantered backwards along the concrete yard, with much clattering of hooves. Grotty's right leg was still sticking up in the air. Bizarrely at this point, Hormonal Hannah who had had Baggy shaking like a leaf at the thought of riding Wesley, relaxed completely!

Baggy finally managed to get the girth kind of tight enough and they headed down to the indoor school. Once in, they spent a very happy, relaxed twenty or twenty-five minutes, walking in lines, circles and serpentines. Riding as a pair and separately. Neither Boys put a hoof wrong and seemed to enjoy being ridden. They both looked lovely in the mirrors, now that they are no longer obese lumps, now all they need to do is build their riding muscle back up. On the way back up to the yard, Grotty was so relaxed that she virtually dropped the reins to let Wesley have a stretch. Once back in the stable, Grotty did Wesley's carrot stretches. And managed to retain Baggy's fingers. They decided that Joey would benefit as well. He'll do anything for food!

Over a cup of tea, Calum and Grotty both realised how lovely it had been to ride again. Both had big grins on their daft faces!

Home to a lovely dinner cooked by number one furry. It has been so lovely to have a day off for once! Happy Mother's Day Baggees..............
