Fighting back

Note to readers (my lovely bloggees): For the avoidance of any doubt - every character in this blog is me!!! No Baggy was harmed in its writing.

More storms last night! A loud crack at one point woke Baggy, Minty Mutt and Bracket kat up. Bracket was in bed with Furry Mama and shot out like a demented dervish, scratching Baggy in the process. Minty came over to check Baggy was okay, then went back to sleep at the bottom of the bed; as did Bracket. Baggy on the other hand stayed awake worrying about the wind. Suddenly her little safe house didn't feel so safe. Furry Mama worried about Derek, but Clever Bird persuaded her not to go outside to check on him. She must have fallen back to sleep eventually, but woke up still feeling tired.

Clever Bird has decided that Creative Clara is not going to share Baggy's feelings today. Suffice to say that they weren't good. After checking on Derek, who was fine, and walking Minty Mutt, Furry Mama headed to the village shop to get some cat food. While there Baggy noticed a little sign for sale. It said, "Digging is my therapy". This appealed to Baggy, who decided that in spite of the very blowy wind and the cold, Gloria Gardener could spend some time in the garden. Time to tackle Baggy's Dad's boule terrain. Gloria does need to decide with Calum whether to reinstate the boule terrain, or make it a grass or patio area, but regardless, it all needs clearing. This was the day's start point:

After a couple of hours:

And another hour:

She was enjoying herself by then. The sun had come out and Baggy was feeling as though she was at peace. Aching, but at peace. She planned on going in, but then decided to tackle the brambles instead.

Pulling fifteen-foot long brambles out from around the trees and shrubs was a massive workout! Especially doing it while scrambling up the bank. The pesky things didn't half fight back. Baggy had to take her woolly jumper off as it was being shredded, as was her pony tail. But she wouldn't give up and the shrubs and trees are now slowly becoming visible rather than being smothered by thorny brambles. Five hours after she started she felt even better, but has a huge pile of rubbish to get rid of!

Tomorrow, as long as Baggy can be persuaded to go out, Gloria will go into town and buy an incinerator bin. Baggy setting fires will be fine. Clever Bird did discover what one of the loud cracks was during the night, a number of branches have snapped off the massive fir trees at the top of the garden; one of them must be at least twenty feet long. Fortunately they had blown away from the garden and onto the farmer's field, but clearly the trees are rather vulnerable. Clever Bird is wondering whether Derek's nest is in there somewhere. It would explain how he ended up on the patio.

Baggy didn't buy the sign as cash is tight and The Domestic Goddess is trying to de-clutter, however, it is definitely quite appropriate at the moment. Gardening (which Gloria has always hated) is becoming one of Baggy's favourite things to do! Just as well as there's so much of it to get on with. Creative Clara is trying to decide what colour to paint the shed - definitely not brown (watch this space). As it will be number one furry's shed, she might run it past him, but she's thinking purple......
