Grotty loves her horse!

Note to readers (my lovely bloggees): For the avoidance of any doubt - every character in this blog is me!!! No Baggy was harmed in its writing.

Number one furry was so poorly last night that he ended up sleeping on the sofa downstairs at the soon-to-be-a-holiday cottage so that he would be nearer to the downstairs bathroom. Every time he coughed it set next door's dogs off barking, so no one had the best night's sleep. As a result Baggy didn't wake up until gone ten, so it was lunchtime before they got back to the yard to see the horses. Calum had ten bags of carrots and one of parsnips to drop off, and Grotty Groom wanted a cuddle. Furry Mama left Minty Mutt in the car as Grotty and Calum went to see the Boys and give them a groom.

Grotty decided to take Wessles into the indoor school as she wanted to see whether he looked lame still. It was snowing quite hard. Grotty put the lad's turnout rug on him so that he stayed warm and dry. He happily wandered through the mini-blizzard to the indoor school, where as soon as they got in, Grotty took his bridle off. Grotty wasn't sure what he would do once free: stand still, have a roll, hurtle about like a loon? No, none of those things bloggees, he instantly followed Grotty wherever she went.

Grotty was touched that they had not lost their connection. When she walked, Wessles walked. When she stopped Wessles stopped. When she changed direction, so did Wessles. When she trotted, Wessles trotted. It was lovely. Grotty told him to go for a trot on his own. He headed off up the school, so she told him to canter. He threw in a buck, then cantered up the school at a rate of knots. Clever Bird thinks that perhaps he was paying more attention to his reflection in the mirror, than to where he was going, or maybe he thought the school was twice as long as it is, but he jumped the white boards at the top of the school, then stopped dead because he was "trapped". He would not jump back over them, so Grotty walked all the way back up the school to encourage him. Nope! Grotty stepped over; he looked at her. Grotty hopped over; he looked at her. For a clever horse.......

In the end Grotty dismantled the white boards to make a gate for him to walk through, he walked through. She walked back down the school, then trotted with Wessles at her side. She told him to head off again and he cantered a large circle, then headed straight at her. Freda Fretter was just wondering how safe it was having half-a-tonne of horse cantering straight at her, when Grotty told her to just tell him to stop. Grotty raised her hand; Wessles stopped literally at her feet, and dropped his nose to her hand. Bless him.

He showed no signs of the stiffness of the other day, but as it's silly cold, Grotty put his fleece under his pyjamas so that he stays toasty. Quite a few parsnips and minty treats later, Grotty said goodbye to the lads.

One of the grooms mentioned that Furry Mama should take Minty Mutt down to the school as dogs love it and charge about in it. Furry Mama said that she very much doubted that Minty would charge anywhere. Wrong! Minty hurtled about like a big puppy. Furry Mama ran, he chased her. It was lovely to see. Furry Mama will be taking his big ball next time.

Finally home, after a big shop, Hinge and Bracket were all over Furry Mama. Bracket has nearly been trodden on numerous times as every time Baggy stands up, she follows her, wrapping herself round Furry Mama's ankles. It's good to be home..........
